Christine Choate is a native Austinite and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. She has enjoyed over 30 years of success in various segments of real estate. Her accomplishments began with purchasing numerous rental properties in Austin, then remodeling and constructing properties from the ground up, later personally purchasing and selling over 12 million in investment properties, working as a top producing real estate agent, and finally owning and managing a high volume real estate brokerage employing over 100 realtors.
In 1989, Ms. Choate purchased her first of many investment properties in central Austin. Renovations included adding square footage and Ms. Choate acted as general contractor hiring and supervising contractors during the remodel and construction process. This led to her extensive knowledge of foundation work, roofing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, tiling and all facets of structural and cosmetic work.
Currently Ms. Choate owns Horizon Realty, which she established in 1999, and now employs over 100 real estate agents. Always interested in improving ability and knowledge, she thrives on helping her agents in generating new business and facilitating transactions, as well as holding hundreds of classes with innovative and productive concepts. She is an advocate of continuing education regarding new real estate laws, contracts, and ethics. Her company has grown due to word of mouth and an outstanding reputation.
Consequently, over the years, Horizon Realty’s results have consistently outperformed the market standard. The company’s sales volume has demonstrated consistent and solid performance year after year as the company has brokered hundreds of millions of dollars in commercial and residential real estate.
Ms. Choate consistently shares her knowledge with the realtors who work for her, as well as the real estate community in general. She has given speeches to the University of Texas Finance Association advocating entrepreneurship and the benefits of investing in real estate. She has made numerous presentations to the Austin Institute of Real Estate and Champions School of Real Estate. Ms. Choate holds a CRS designation, which is held by only the top 10% of realtors nationwide.
Ms. Choate has been an active member of the Real Estate Council of Austin, Women’s Council of Realtors, Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee, Austin Board of Realtors, Texas Association of Realtors and National Association of Realtors. Over the years, she has served on various committees including the Austin Board of Realtors Governmental Affairs Committee, ByLaws Committee, and Nominating Committee for CEO, as well as the Membership Chair for the Entrepreneur’s Organization.
Through her company, Ms. Choate has sponsored programs such as the Coats for Kids drive and Soles for Souls. She has also contributed to the People’s Promise Foundation, American Youthworks programs and Children’s USA Swim-A-Thon. In 2008 she traveled to India with the Miracle Foundation helping with several of the orphanages in the southern region of the country.
