Austin remains popular with foreign real estate investors

Austin has moved up a few spots on a list of top U.S. cities favored by foreign real estate investors, according to a survey three weeks ago by the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate.  Austin moved up to #8  from #11 last year. Houston took #7 and Dallas was #13 after not ranking on the list since 1995.  The top 5 ranked cities in the US for foreign investment in 2012 are New York, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Boston and Los Angeles.

60% of survey respondents said they plan to increase their U.S. investments this year and 59% percent of respondents said the U.S. offers the most secure real estate investments worldwide.  This is the highest level of confidence from respondents in the U.S. since 2006.  The U.S. real estate market received 42.2% of the votes and is seen as having the best opportunity for capital appreciation in the world.
